    7 Days Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda wildlife safari & birding trip

    7 Days Visiting Lake Mburo Tour Itinerary:

    Day 1: Kampala – Lake Mburo National Park (Travel time +4hrs)

    Early morning drive to Lake Mburo National Park with a stopover at the Equator crossing line in Masaka, arriving in Lake Mburo towards 10:00 am. You will then have a game drive in search of zebras, impalas, giraffes, buffaloes, hippos, topis, and elands among other wildlife species. Then return in the afternoon for lunch at your safari lodge.

    The evening is spent on a bush walk, which is another excellent opportunity for more wildlife viewing and interactions.

    Day 2: Horse Riding & Boat Safari Lake Mburo

    After your early morning breakfast, you will go for a morning horseback riding experience for a closer encounter with nature. You will also get on a mid-morning game safari drive for wildlife viewing and photography.

    Lake Mburo National Park is a very special place; every part of it is alive with variety, interesting, and colorful features. The park contains an extensive wetland area that harbors the majority of the wildlife. So, you are likely to see more elands, impalas, waterbucks, warthogs, and zebras among others.

    After your lunch, you will get on an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Mburo amidst a variety of hippos – an amazing encounter with countless bird species including the rare shoebill stork,grey-crowned (crested) crane, pelicans, fish eagle, and herons, among many other water birds.

    Day 3: Full-day Relaxation & Night Game Drive

    Today is dedicated to relaxation and sightseeing around your lodge in Lake Mburo National Park. The evening will then be spent on a night game safari in search of the nocturnal mammals, including the leopard that is usually sighted at night.

    Day 5: Full-day Birding Lake Mburo

    Today is dedicated to a full-day birding experience in Lake Mburo National Park. The park is the best place in Uganda for acacia-dwelling bird species. Forest species are also present in Rubanga Forest. And a bonus for birders is the swamps, in which six papyrus endemics are resident, including the spectacular papyrus gonolek and the blue-headed coucal.

    Lake Mburo is also a place to find southern species at the northern limit of their range, including the black-collared barbet and the southern ground hornbill, which are migratory.

    Day 5: Full-day Relaxation

    Day 6: Full-day Relaxation – Lake Mburo National Park

    Relax and refresh on your own at your safari lodge, on the second day while enjoying the soothing sounds of birds and sightseeing around the lodge.

    Day 7: Lake Mburo – Kampala/Entebbe

    Morning is dedicated to sightseeing around your lodge with an early lunch at your lodge. Have an en-route game drive exiting the park with an opportunity to spot more wildlife. You will then return to Kampala or Entebbe to catch up on your outbound flight back home or to your next destination. Meal plan: B & L.
